As far as Tokais go, this is probably the nicest LS-80 I've ever seen. Most have no flaming at all and/or are solid
finishes. This has specs that are very similar to the LS-100 models with mild flaming. As you know, the original Les
Pauls didn't have the outrageous flaming they put on them now. The flaming of the originals was subtle and even
unintentional, if you've read up on the story of the LP. The way they did this faded cherry sunburst is much like those
50s and 60s originals. The only thing that is different here is the fact that the top is a laminate or veneer top. Some
people consider them to be inferior to solid tops, but have you actually listened to both and compared? These
veneer tops are great bargains due to the higher collectibility of the solid tops. But in fact, both are extremely nice
finishes, at least on a Tokai Love Rock. The finish is nice old nitro, the old type that players love. 100% original in
every way and with only a tiny ding as you can see in the photos, a vintage Tokai like this would be hard to replace.
