I don't normally get into the new Fender reissues much, but this one was an exception. I really
do not support the Custom Shop ethic, so I tend to look for really special guitars from their
regular line. This one is a commemorative '57 reissue, and sports the gold hardware as well
as the engraved neck plate. It had the most gorgeous grain on a maple neck that I had seen in
a long time, and certainly unusual for a non-Custom Shop model. Also, the ash body grain can
be seen through the Mary Kaye blond body finish. What a match! I swapped the regular
pickguard for a Fender gold anodized pickguard, and also swapped the fake-aged plastic for
authentic Fender USA plastic parts, which made an already amazing guitar even better.
The case is also non-original, but more like the real 50's center pocket cases, and is a
genuine rare Fender case to boot. This guitar has a gorgeous nitro finish not often seen.
